This past Sunday, my friend and I ventured down to Detroit for the day. Although it’s only 45 minutes south of where we live, there’s so much to do and see no matter how many times you visit, especially with this new “renaissance” taking place. Our original plan was to go to our sorority sister’s jewelry party at her apartment in the heart of Downtown, then go to a new restaurant and a museum we’ve never been to. While we stuck to the plan for the most part, we didn’t realize what adventure the day had in store.
10a.m. – In typical Kourtney-Bri fashion, we grabbed some Starbucks and hit the road! I opted for my usual skinny caramel macchiato and some apple crisps for the ride.

11 a.m. – Finally found a spot to park and head into our sister’s Stella + Dot jewelry party, where I spent entirely way too much money, but everything was SO CUTE! I’ll definitely end up hosting a party to get more goodies! I bought the Sutton necklace in mixed metals, as well as the Deco cocktail ring which I’m super obsessed with. What’s really cool about the vast majority of their jewelry can be worn in multiple different ways; for example, the Sutton necklace can be lengthened, shortened, and you can take off different layers and wear them separately or together!

12:15 p.m. – head to lunch at Wahlburger’s in Greektown, but our plans changed quickly when we found out that there was a wait. After walking around Greektown Casino looking for the steakhouse and discovering it’s closed during the day, we stumbled upon Fishbone’s a New Orleans-inspired restaurant with everything from cajun cuisine to sushi to pasta, there’s something on the menu for everyone! I decided on chicken piccata without sundried tomatoes, a side Caesar salad, and the love potion martini – all of which were absolutely phenomenal.
2 p.m. – Arrived at the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA). I could visit it time and time again and forever be in awe at these amazing works of art; It’s one of my favorite places to visit.

If you’ve been to Detroit or a city near you, what’s one of your favorite things to do/see on a day trip?
