Fall Favorites

Hello

Hello Friends!

Fall is officially here in Michigan and I could not be more excited since it is my absolute favorite time of the year! In celebration, I thought I’d share some of my favorite things about fall and things that I am obsessed with at the current moment in time.

Chunky Cable knit Sweaters// They can be layered with an adorable pair of boots and jeans or just paired with leggings. My go-to place for amazing sweaters is J Crew!

Fleece Pullovers// Continuing the theme of comfy garments, I’ve always been a huge fan of your average crew neck and quarter-zip fleece, but I’ve never known love until I bought my Patagonia Snap-T Fleece Pullover. Okay, maybe that’s a tad over-dramatic, but, in all reality, it’s quite fabulous and I highly recommend checking it out!

Cider Mills// This really speaks for itself, the best fall past time in Michigan; donuts, caramel apples, and warm cider…. Nothing beats it!

Guacamole Chips// Okay, so it’s not quite fall themed, but they are one of my latest obsessions. If you enjoy tortilla chips and guac, you’ll LOVE the organic twist by Food Should Taste Good. I’ll admit, I was a tad apprehensive initially, but I ended up demolishing the whole bag with my friend. Yes, they are that good!

Quilted/Puffy/Fleece Vests// Last, but certainly not least, I find it quite essential to have, at least, one vest to sport during this time of the year. Vests are perfect for layering on particularly chilly days; it’s no surprise that my favorite comes from the store that holds my heart: J Crew!

Not-So-Guilty Pleasures: Headbands of Hope

Not-So-Guilty Pleasures: Headbands of Hope
My purchase: Bluestar ($23.95 without shipping)
My purchase: Bluestar ($23.95 without shipping)

Growing up in Catholic school, philanthropy has always been a huge part of my life. Now that I am involved in a sorority, I have so many amazing philanthropic opportunities, not only per my chapter, but other Greek organizations as well.

A few weeks ago, while attending a retreat put on by my school’s Panhellenic Council, I had the privilege of learning about a new chapter (Sigma Sigma Sigma) coming to our school’s campus this fall following Formal Recruitment.  During their segment, Tri-Sigma spoke about their involvement with the charity Headbands of Hope; For every headband sold, the organization gives a headband to a child battling cancer, and $1 is donated to children’s cancer research.

As the philanthropist and self-proclaimed shopaholic I am, I grew quite interested in the organization and decided that I wanted- nay- NEEDED Headbands of Hope in my life. They have a large variety of headbands to choose from ranging from couture to flowered to headwraps, and everything in-between! I decided to go with the timeless couture piece, Bluestar (see left image).

Your purchase is mailed in an adorable satchel (see feature image) that is great to store your product in. You also receive a sticker which I chose to put on my laptop to stir up questions about the organization and peak the interest of others! Of course, there are many more on my wishlist, plus it’s for such an amazing cause. This is one purchase you do not have to feel guilty about going a tad overboard with!

Check out the link to the Headbands of Hope website above and feel free to like them on Facebook or follow them on Twitter and Instagram. They also have a variety of ways to rock your new headbands on their Pinterest page.

Until Next Time!

Style Trend: Lululemon

Style Trend: Lululemon
Purchases featuring Brunch & Bubbles tee from Francesca’s

Leggings: when many people think of this article of clothing, they think of “basic” white girls in Uggs and an over-sized sweater sipping on a warm Starbucks beverage. What people don’t know, is that, as a female college student, I feel as though it is a duty of mine to wear leggings. If I didn’t wear leggings at least twice a week, I would just feel so wrong in so many ways.

This article of clothing is so versatile: you can dress it up with a sweater, a statement necklace, and leather ankle boots, or you can pair them with a graphic tee and Sperry’s; the possibilities are ENDLESS! Did I also mention how comfortable leggings are? Pretty darn comfy, ask any woman.

When Lululemon first became a “thing,” I was quite uninterested in buying an over-priced pair of skin-tight fabric. However, after a long internal battle, I decided to take a leap of faith and gave into capitalism when I bought my first pair of Lululemon leggings, and a sports bra…. and a headband. Okay so I went a bit overboard for my first time, but I just wanted to try everything so that I could really ensure that it was all it was cracked up to be.

After my purchase, my wallet was crying, but I was elated to sport my new clothes and see what all the hype was about. My new purchases turned out to be actually life changing! The Wunder Under Pants (I bought them in desert snake deep coal black) were tight, but not to the point where I felt like I was busting out of them, also the fabric was extremely comfortable. They definitely put my Victoria’s Secret leggings to shame. Furthermore, the Hold Your Om II sports bra (heathered black) is one of the best sports bras I own. As a dancer, I tend to have a difficult time finding a sports bra that both gives me support and is super comfortable; however, the Hold Your Om II is definitely worth it and costs the same price as a Nike or Victoria’s Secret sports bra. Finally, I picked up a Skinny Fly-Away Tamer Headband (in ziggy snake butter pink black) simply because it was cute and on sale.

Do you have an experience with Lululemon or another athletic brand? Comment below and let me know what you think!
